The Austin Healey Sprite Drivers’ Club Inc. was formed in July 1966 as a Club for Drivers – not just Owners.
This naming was to recognise that Sprites and Midgets were designed as economical “fun” sports cars with exceptional handling and that the Club would be concentrating on the kind of activities that reflected this.
In that first year, the AHSDC became an affiliated member of CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, now Motorsport Australia) and in 1971 became a Charter Member of the MSCA (Marque Sports Car Association), setting us up as a strong competition orientated Club. These events continue to this day, with many members participating far and wide. However, road events, always very popular, have an enthusiastic following, with a combination of weekly runs (Cruze Nights) in the summer months and regular social drives or touring events at other times of the year.
